I’m looking for a curtain rod that is maybe designed to go all the way around the octagon shape. Any suggestions on what to do with bay windows? I have faux wood blinds already but I’m thinking of putting a roman shade over them for even more blackout and to add some color. Not sure if I want long curtains as my young ones will hang on them.
Looks like its curtains for you, pull yourself together woman.

Greetings Yahoo! Answers.
My husband and I recently purchased a bedroom set and a gorgeous set of sheets. Unfortunately we have no idea how to decorate this room. The walls are currently a light creamy beige with white faux wood window blinds.
Can you please suggest some painting colors, techniques and other decor ideas that can transform our bedroom into a beautiful and modern/contemporary relaxing escape.
Thanks!

a rich red/orange wall accent with a nice earth tone brown will go nice on the walls to accent the furniture and beddings … try imaging the walls in two tone colors.
My friend just move into her new house, and in one of the rooms had similar specs as your’s, that’s what she did and it looked great, i’m sorry I don’t have pictures though…

My wife just rescued a little dog and when we left him at home he gnawed through the strings on the window blinds.
We’re renting and I need to know how to repair the strings. They look like a step ladder. Two thick (3mm?) strings on either side with a thin one connecting them.
Please don’t give me a smart a$$ remark like just replace the blinds or let the dog gnaw on the other one.
I checked www.fixmyblinds.com prior to posting an question on here.
Unfortunately, they don’t provide instructions prior to purchase and I want to know what’s entailed in the repair prior to purchasing.
Try this site, they may have something that will help:

I can’t move into my new home until December, but want to get an idea of what window coverings will cost. I estimate it would be about $3000 for faux wood blinds for my 2300 sq ft house, but have no clue how Roman shades run. Anyone know??
Would you agree both are still a lot cheaper than plantation shutters?
Roman shades will run you a bit more.
When we moved into our new house 2 years ago, I had the same dilemma, so I decided to put Roman blinds in all the bedrooms and the wood in the rest of the house.
That way, I got the best of both worlds and didn’t pay too much for one or the other! ♥

Im getting some dark brown blinds soon and was thinking that a similar brown would go good as the curtains / valance?
(its for a bedroom window, 70 width, 35 height)
I think that would be to dark you would need to lighten up the area so that the blinds can stand out .. I would go with cream, gold, or white this way your eye is drawing to your new blinds instead of your blinds being blended in with the dark curtain because the blinds are already dark. When it comes to colors think this way opposite attract dark with lite colors lite with dark colors.

My style for the room is casual traditional. I like my faux 2" wood blinds on other windows, but not sure they’d work well on the french doors – maybe a thinner slat? I also like the look of some roller shades…any ideas?
It depends on how much you want to block the light and or the view. I have some french doors and a lot of windows in my house but I like the open view. I just had some solar shade window tinting installed on all the windows in the house to protect the hardwood floors and furniture. I’m happy with how it turned out. They also have privacy tint where no one can see in the I had done in the bathroom. Check it out.

Are plantation shutters hard to keep clean? Are there any drawbacks to woods shutters being used INSIDE the house on windows instead of miniblinds?
They both have their pros and cons. Get someone who can SEE your house to give you their opinion.

I have two small sidelight windows that I would like to put Faux wood blinds on. But they are very narrow. How narrow can they cut blinds somewhere like Lowe’s or Home Depot?
Call them and ask. I’ve seen blinds as narrow as 1 foot.
